Trysil has signed the Greenwashing Poster

Destination Trysil stands behind the content of the Greenwashing Poster and commits to follow the poster's ten principles in all communication about Trysil's own work with sustainability, which must always be in motion.

Trysil has worked with sustainable development of tourism since 2010. They have had the Sustainable Destination label since 2013, and have been relabelled three times. The last relabelling was approved in October 2022. It is important for Trysil to communicate its sustainability measures and goals with pride, but also to talk about its challenges.

- By signing the Greenwashing Poster, we commit to communicating honestly and openly in all sustainability communication, as well as avoiding greenwashing. In this way, we create trust among guests and partners, says Ida Dyreng, general manager of Destination Trysil. "We also hope that this can contribute to our guests, the business community in Trysil and other tourism destinations becoming more aware and making greener choices, and that this in turn leads to the green shift happening faster.

The poster has been a good tool for Trysil

The greenwashing poster was launched in July 2020 by Skift – the business sector's climate leader, in collaboration with the Environmental Foundation ZERO, WWF World Wide Fund for Nature and Future in Our Hands. They define greenwashing as "A form of misleading marketing in which a product or business is portrayed as better than it actually is in terms of impact on the climate, nature, animals and people."

- We support this initiative, and the Greenwashing Poster has been a good tool for us when we have worked with sustainability communication. We have gone through the entire poster, point by point, and taken a check on what we can and cannot say in relation to sustainability. We have implemented this throughout the organization and will do our utmost to follow the principles in it in our marketing and communication, says Ida Dyreng, general manager of Destination Trysil.
