Trysil Mandskor (Trysil Male Choir) was founded in 1861, and has always had an important role in the cultural life of Trysil. For its many years of work, the choir received Trysil Municipality's cultural award in 2003.
Trysil Male Choir
Trysil Male Choir was founded in 1861, and can now look back on 160 years of history with polyphonic singing. The choir is one of the oldest in Hedmark county, and it is in many ways incredible that the choir movement reached the remote Trysil so early. Despite its age, Trysil Male Choir appears today as a very upbeat choir. Recruitment is good. The number of singers has increased in recent years, so that the choir today counts 41 members including the conductor. The choir has always had skilled conductors, and this is part of the reason for the continuity. Since 1994, Solveig Aunsmo has been the conductor and musical director of the choir.
The repertoire is very diverse. Church music and sacred songs are always relevant, but the choir is probably best known for its theme concerts, where the joy of singing and humor are prominent. Traditions are important in Trysil Male Choir, which is why "The Norwegian Male Choir's Blue Book" is frequently used.
As it should be, the choir has its own song and its own banner.
In 1933, the choir introduced its own order of singers: "The Golden Goathorn"
Trysil Male Choir is a significant culture bearer in Trysil. Every spring, the choir travels around the hamlets and holds concerts in village and community centers. At these concerts, there are always full houses. These concert series always end with a final concert in Trysil's main hall, Hagelund, and then all 420 seats in the hall are filled!
Trysil Male Choir is among the nestors in Trysil's cultural life. With song and good humor, the "men's choir" has for over 160 years made its valuable contributions to the rich and versatile rural culture that Trysil stands as an exponent of.
For its many years of work, the choir received Trysil Municipality's cultural award in 2003.
