A short walking distance from Trysil center, nestled among pine trees on a small hill, lies a charming and modern little cabin, Trysil's new day-trip cabin.

The day trip cabin is located in Grimsåsen. There is a large network og trails in the area, and the cabin is strategically located as a starting point for several trail hikes in slightly steeper terrain for those who desire it. Nearby, there is also a shelter that can be used as a picnic and barbecue area. An outdoor toilet is also available.

FOR EVERYONE
The day trip cabin is open at all times and can be used by everyone. It has a small wood-burning stove, and those who want to light a fire must bring their own firewood. The stove is very small, so please be careful not to bring logs that are too large. However, this small wood stove will warm up the cabin quickly, making it a cozy and snug space, with only about 15 square meters inside.

There are solar panels on the cabin, and a lamp outside the cabin is automatically turned on by a motion sensor, providing lilght inside as well.  There is no lighting on the path leading to the cabin, so if you plan to walk there in the evening, we recommend using headlamps. There is also a fire pit outside the cabin. All visitors are asked to help keep the cabin in good condition, and leave it as they would like to find it. Please feel free to write in the guest book during your stay!

The cabin was designed by Ram Architects. It has a modern look without right angles and features a glass end wall facing Trysilfjellet, allowing a glimpse of Trysilelva and the town center through the trees. Inside, the cabin has white wooden walls and integrated benches along three of its walls. When the cabin was assembled, it was delivered in five modules that were connected, and within five hours, the cabin was ready. Brun Bygg was the general contractor for the project.

All municipalities in Innlandet County have been offered the opportunity to set up a similar day trip cabin. Trysil is the third municipality in Innlandet and the first in the former Hedmark County to open a day trip cabin. The day trip cabin in Trysil was opened on December 1, 2022.

Trysil's Day Trip cabin is owned by Trysil Municipality. It was establised and financed in collaboration with Sparebankstiftelsen DNB, Sparebankstiftelsen Hedmark, Innlandet County Municipality and Trysil Municipality.

HOW TO GET TO THE DAY TRIP CABIN
The day trip cabin is located on a small hill called Grimstad. It is 500 meters from Grindbekkvegen, which is the nearest parking lot. From the center of Trysil, you can follow Korsbergsvegen 1.2 km eastward and uphill, then turn left onto Grindbekkvegen. From there, continue on a wide gravel path that is accessible for both strollers, wheelchairs, small children's feet and elderly people who do not have the strength to walk that far. As you enter det forest, the Day Trip Cabin will reveal itself on a small hill where the path winds around, and the cabin is beautifully located among the pine trees.
