Skagsvola is Trysil's most popular hiking trail, and it is not without reason that Skagsvola is called "Trysil's answer to Besseggen".
The trail to Skagsvola starts in Brunnsdalen at Engerneset, 38 km from the center of Trysil.
About Skagsvola
Skagsvola is the mountain ridge on the west side of Lake Engeren in the far north of Trysil. The path to Skagsvola and back to the parking lot is 8.3 kilometers long, and is graded red due to some large rocky scree. Skagsvola offers a good, adapted trail and a fantastic view from the top.
With a view of the sea 460 meters below and nice mountains in all directions. The hiking trail was created in 2014.
The trail goes up the back side of this mountain. There it is much less steep and much less elevation. Most people spend three hours on the trip, with breaks.
Follow the path
Everyone has the right to go wherever they want in the outback. However, we ask you as nicely as we can to follow the path. The terrain tolerates very little, especially in the forest, but also in some places up on the mountain ridge. In order for the path to withstand traffic, hundreds of meters of cleats have been laid, and in recent years has also been improved with sherpa steps.
View
Down towards the beautiful, long and narrow lake Engeren. 460 meters below. First steep, then a long section of steep scree and a belt of forest towards the sea. In all directions, you see friendly and gentle mountains from 1000 meters and up. Trysilfjellet in the south, Femund Engerdal and Sølenfjella in the north. At the top there is a target that shows what the mountains are called.
You have this view from the entire mountain ridge, about two kilometers long.
