Children's encounter with the ski slope can feel a bit overwhelming for both the child and its parents. You may very well feel like a beginner too all of a sudden. How should you best proceed so that the child's first encounter with boots, skis, helmet and lifts becomes a positive experience?

In a situation like this, it can be welcoming to get a few tips from someone who has done this before. The ski school in Trysil has extensive experience providing young children with a positive introduction to the challenges of the ski slopes Here are some useful tips:
Tip 1: Play with your boots at home
It is a good idea to let the children get to know the equipment at home first. Let them play with the boots and try putting them on and taking them off. The same goes for the most important piece of equipment, namely the helmet. If they are familiar with the equipment, it will be significantly easier the day you visit the ski resort for the very first time.
Tip 2: Play and fun are most important of all

Play and fun are the two most important elements in the children's areas. When children are young, it is essential that they enjoy snow and enjoy wearing the equipment. Sledding, playing, watching Valle – there are plenty of fun activities to choose from! Riding the lift and skiing is just a bonus.
Tip 3: Start in a children's area
It is important to have a well-adapted environment where the children's needs are at the centre. Such an area is just as concerned about the surrounding facilities as the lifts and slopes. A good children's area is just as suitable for prams as for children with skis, and it should be a short distance to a warm shelter, toilets and dining.
Tip 4: Park your car smartly
Make it as easy as possible to get from car to hill and of course vice versa. When you arrive at the ski resort, you should think about parking your car in the most convenient spot relative to where you are spending time. This not only gives you a good start, but also a good ending when a tired 3-year-old is going home after a long and enjoyable day on the slopes.
Tip 5: Ask the employees

The staff in the children's areas are there to help. Ask the staff in the lift area, in the ski school or at the ski rental if you have any questions. They know their stuff well, and are pleased to assist you!
Tip 6: Ski passes are free for children under 7
Did you know that all children under the age of 7 ride for free when they wear a helmet? At every hill there is a separate Valle entrance for the little ones.
Good luck with play and fun for the whole family! Remember not to give up – challenges are there to be overcome.
